Week 7 Film Room - Landon Dickerson, Saints OL, & Tristan Wirfs vs. Khalil Mack
For the Week 7 film room I put two players and one unit under the microscope for their standout performances. First, Eagles LG Landon Dickerson’s fifth career start (fourth at LG) against the Raiders, followed by the Saints dominance in pass-protection against the Seahawks (12:21), and then Bucs RT Tristan Wirfs excellent day in his second career matchup with Bears edge-rusher Khalil Mack (23:40).
Some key points that we will cover in this edition of the film room:
How Dickerson uses excellent pad level at 6’6” 330 pounds with heavy, tight hand placement to create instant displacement in the run game
The art of ‘feeding’ a defender on double-teams
Dickerson’s grip strength ending reps quickly
Areas of improvement for Dickerson in pass-protection
The Saints O-line continues to provide a ton of space for QB Jameis Winston to operate in the pocket
Saints C Erik McCoy’s impact being felt in his first start since Week 1 of this season
Saints RG Cesar Ruiz picking up stunts
Bucs RT Tristan Wirfs’ one-sided affair against Mack on isolated reps
QB Tom Brady making life much easier for Wirfs and the O-line
How Wirfs weight distribution, balance, and play strength overwhelm rushers
