Week 10 Mega Film Room
For the Week 10 film room I spent the last two days breaking down and cutting up film from the week with an eye towards the trenches. I came away drawn to a few key matchups and players along with schematic approaches that are discussed in detail below. I covered big picture ideas of how offensive coordinators design ways to combat elite edge-rushers, to game-changing individual performances, and nuanced breakdowns of various techniques. As always, the focus was on player evaluation, matchups and technique, but I expanded the conversation to touch on formation, personnel, and what it looks like to make life easier on the O-line.
Some key points that we will cover in this edition of the film room:
Tennessee’s dominance up front and how it is led by Jeffrey Simmons and Denico Autry (the art of a stunt, setting up moves, and diversifying a pass-rush plan)
Simmons’ specific improvements and how it is vaulting him into ‘elite’ territory
The struggles and successes of Saints OGs Cesar Ruiz and Calvin Throckmorton
