For this week’s Inside the Trenches Film Room I brought on Oklahoma State tackle Teven Jenkins to break down 30+ plays from his 2019 and 2020 seasons.
Jenkins and I discussed:
His mental approach to the game
Various techniques he uses as a pass protector to stay unpredictable
What he credits for the rare power and grip strength that he displays on tape
Playing for several different O-line coaches and one key acronym he took from one that helped him excel in pass protection
The Joseph Ossai matchup
Correcting early mistakes later on in a game
As Jenkins prepares for the draft and people start to study his tape this film room can provide some unique insight and context into how he can succeed as a pro.
Through roughly a dozen tackle grades so far I have Jenkins ranked as the second best player at his position in the class and after getting a peak into his mindset that belief has only been reinforced.
I really enjoy these. Maybe put a few loses on the next one as well to see what they say and learned. Just a thought
